how to dye fabric at home!!! (Tie and Dye) :supply that you need

dear All
finally its rainy season!!
after a long time I am back with another tutorial.

I have been looking for a tutorial on "at home" fabric dye-ing which involves caustic soda ,monopol soap, regular salt and chemical compounds of colour.but could not find such tutorial.

I was looking of this kind of tutorial because our local craft store has no "easy- to -do" dye suitable for home dye-ing.

Internet is full of tutorial where ready made dyes are used and these are quite easy to do @ home .thanks to my  famous city where every thing related to modern craft  are unheard of.No problem..I was a newbie at the first place and I had many rocks ahead to stumble upon before I would reach my destiny --long way to go .Recently silk painting has attracted me a lot,and local market does not have any silk colour ,as expected.

Couple of years ago I bought a book on fabric dye-ing from the annual book fair. Its more like collage reference book.it was very hard for me to understand those technical terms and chemical formulas( I stayed away from chemistry all my life like plague)but I got some brief ideas about dyes.that got me interested.

I know you guys are very bored @ this moment..

time to upload some snaps

As far as tie and die is concerned ,internet is full of such tutorials.

in the 2nd picture you can see the things used  for dyeing the above fabric .

the blue object is obviously a pair of gloves( recommended-  you are dealing with caustic soda here !!),
after that" MN colour"( dont worry abour the word MN written over the pouch-its the name of the chemical to create an orange colour),
then Orange Salt GC,
the small bottle has monopol soap,
next to it is the caustic soda,
two more things that you require are -normal salt, and enamel coated bowls.

It was bit nightmare-ish at first, because I was dealing with some unknown chemicals.some questions did occur to me,namely ,if it would leave ugly marks in wash room floor or not ,should I avoid using the kitchen altogether or not,but believe me it was not that hard at the end.yes putting the gloves on and washing the buckets and utensils after using is must.

for my first project I wanted to make me a dupatta.hence bought 2.5 mt of plain cotton white fabric.

I dont know about other cities ,here in my famous city dyes and other required stuffs comes in a very affordable price, in a very small -"one time use" quantity too..I bought my dye from a trusted craft supply store and it came with an instruction manual too.

additional infos:

pigment dye= used for block printing.-thick creamy
acid dye=have to use viniger or other acid to fast the color, natural fabric
batik dye= general dye,you can use wax to create different motifs.natural fabric

sorry guys ,I have to end this post here.
detail instruction is in the next post.

see you soon
