ganesh mural inspired

another bottle!

dear all

cant believe the year has come to its end so soon

i took a simple resolution last years ,that was noting but to craft more and more ,,i think ,i have maintained my resolution and i wish to continue the same throughout the next year..no more resolution attacks!
at least this year i have crated more posts than i could do in the last year !yay!!
the only regret is ,often when we evaluate our whole year ,we often see it on negative light..we should create a piggy bank of good experience ,at the end of the year we should break open that piggy bank to see how many good experience we have collected!

we should also try not to live a year at a time ,we should fix a goal and each year should help us to reach to that goal -see the big picture first!

few words on my self made bodice

dear all
acquiring new skills are always fun-initially the uneasy feeling makes me real crazy but then things starts to fall at its place ....

bodice making is one of those experience .in my last post i wrote about the link from where i could learn the bodice making.honestly it was not the only site i consulted ,i consulted many tutorials ,and i think its the way it should be.
finally i came and stuck myself in to that tutorial because it made sense to my beginners brain.from the brief experience i must tell you that when ever you are trying to  make fitted garment like a bodice for yourself -opt for CM scale ( centimetre)

from that link .i sewed  up the bodice ,it came out quite well.here i would like to share some of my experince

here how i look.

this pic was taken before i made adjustments.you can easily see extra fabric near the armholes and a loose waist.

i
here i would like to mention that as per the tutorial i did not keep any seam allowances, last time i made a bodice and kept seam allowances and afterwards it became quite unmanageable.it needed lots of pinning to get the perfect fit.

the tutorials of bodice drafting are the guidance ,it cant ensure the perfect fit.in orderr to get the perfect fit ,you must wear it youself or use your dummy.as per your  comfort level you need to adjust it.the ultimate idea is to get the flattering look, hence we have to be flexible about where we palce out darts.different peop;e has different body -thats the bottom line.

i did not know where to find muslin-hence i used just cotton fabric which is quite thin.i would recommend to use a zipper at the back of your bodice ,it helps to fit it well.

after the adjustment is done i would come back with more experineces.

till then bah-bye!!

best bodice drafting tutorial

Dear all
Finally the festive season is over and my ill health is recovering...this new sewing bug of mine is not ready to leave me as yet
Since I am a self-taught sewer, I have to go through many tutorials to check which suits my IQ level.

Bodice is something you need to learn making if you decide to sew for yourself or for others. It’s the basic shape of your body translated in to fabric. This pattern can be modified in to any type of cloths.

Here is the bodice drafting tutorial which is pretty simple for any beginner.
I have just drafted my pattern with the help of this tutorial and it turned out great on paper.

drawing : my views

dear all

this is my birthday morning -and I  have not made any special plan ,

this post is not exactly a tutorial, its more like some personal views on drawing -how I see it and how I have beginning to learn it..as you know I post as I grow or learn things ,I hope my understandings on this subject will help you .

calling -desire to draw

in my 20;s I began to feel that regular jobs are not my aspiration.I was not made for intellectually non-challenging data-base jobs.It was becoming unbrearable(that brief encounter with 9-5 job helped me to learn many things about myself).Due to many reasons ,like social pressure or financial presure many of us deal with it.After I quit ,I focused my energy into creativity.my point is if its your lifeline or calling  then go for it-this desire is important ,this hunger will help you to do  all the necessary hard work.

observation

another thing that a beginner painter or some one who wants to experiment with  drawing or painting ,must  have or develop a strong observation power.in our daily life we are often very busy or in hurry -we dont care to observe things .not only observing ,we sould be able to understand what we have observed .how a certain thing works -its design and structure-anatomy-its proportions with the other things around it-colours-tone -everything it represents.you have to absorb as many information as you can about this subject.we have to process a lot many information about our subject before we can re produce it in a tiny amount.its effective use of senses.if a painter paints a sea- onlooker sould be able to feel the salty air..

real life study  has no alternatives

in our time so many useful resources  are available electronically-thanks to the masters.but at their time this were unimaginable -they had to  learn it from the nature.here is the importance of STUDY.that means we have to observe real things that are present around us ,its helps us to grow our judgemeent and perception -which in turn becomes our signature styles.

time has wings

its a therapy .in my experience once you understand what its like to get intoxicated by it ,there is no turning back.the calming effect of the art is now my support system.

practice :Patience

since it was impossible for me to enter in any art collage-I had to do it privately.its not the collage or the teachers -its your self motivation and urge that counts when it comes to carrying on the practice.with out practice you are nothing.I think the more you practice the more you understand it.every day 2 hours of practice  do wonders.it will shape you up pretty quickly-have patience .remember good thing takes time - no short cuts

challenge yourself

when you  want to learn on your own, then push your self a bit.it may not work out well but that initiative is what it counts.as the populat quote goes -if its not challenging you ,its not changing you.

okey guys ,,these are some of the first hand experience i have shared with you ..keep it up

see you soon

DECOUPAGE : MONEY SAVING TIPS

Dear All

We will never find any scrap booker or craft enthusiast who has never incorporated decoupage in any of their projects.I find it very  exciting and beautiful way to add some effects on projects.it was one of the first thing  I tried my hands on.its a most delicate kind of craft  which require a great practice and a sense of art.

When it comes to creating beautiful things I always opted for less expensive things.Branded and imported  supplies can  burn hole in the pockets.yes if you absolutely need one of those expensive supplies for any particular project and you are quite sure about it ,then go for it.otherwise some simple hard-were shop bought supply will do just as great. Another point is ,suitable decoupage napkins are either not available  for our projects or they are unreasonably expensive.

Solution: its always better to print out own napkin.this post is about how can we save money on prints.traditionally napkins are used for decoupages, these napkins are are often decoratively printed.local party supply stores often keeps printed napkins ,which often does not go with out intended projects –I had this experience.we have to be very careful while choose from such napkins.

The solution is to print your own napkins at home.and trust me it requires skills.Napkins are very soft and thin.-if not inserted in to the paper feeder correctly –it can jam the printer .this has happened to me couple of times.I have an INK JET printer (These printers are often made for home use).inkjet printers can have expensive cartridges.. and ink-jet printers works well if you keep using it regularly—you see how contradictory!

The solution is to install CISS ( continuous inks supply system)if you really do a lot of printing ,it’s the best way- its an one time investment –one more thing I really need to master –i.e to be able to open my own printer to clean inside head.lol!!

Back to the topic

1.you can use regular office paper-go for a low gsm
2.Napkins,it prints well but it needs some practice
3.tissue paper-I like it ( its not that’s soft as the napkin)
4.rice paper
5.Acid free paper 160gsm
You have to choose from these –as per you skill sets and your projects.

enjoy

Another Paper Mache recipe (homemade)

Dear All

Thanks for bearing with me,my connectivity has been so erratic in this rainy season ..

few months ago I promised to write  about my new Paper Mache recipe that I have been using for my paper Mache projects..here is comes

I have found that Paper Mache clays are so much convenient in every way .Another post that I want  to do about a shop-bought paper clay ,which I have found in our local market in a cheapest price, and it looks really smooth and nice..wait till I try my hands on it --may be my fixation with smoothest paper clay has come to an end..yay!!

for the time being I am using this clay for my PM projects (believe me Jonni's projects are so tempting, hope to knail it soon) ,If I change in to anything new ,I will let you know!

to make this you will need:
1/2 cup of Napkin ,which has to be soaked overnight.before soaking tear it apart( I don't have paper shredder ,hence used my hands).Make sure you use cheap napkins for it.
 ,
then put it in a grinder, this is how I make my paper pulp.

2 table spoon of saw dust

2 table spoon of wall putty powder

4 table spoon of white flour

1 table spoon of linseed oil

1/2 cup of white glue, used by carpenters

process:
Mix it up with your hands -make a dough .its ready to use

here I must add ,after it dries it will shrink and it may have a grainy look.some time I use whitening powder or  chalk to make it look much smoother when it dries, but this time I have decided to go without it.

here I wish to tell why I have decided to use these ingredients,
paper pulp is needed  because it has a fiber which helps to bond the clay.its light weight.

Saw dust used ,I think it can work as a good filler, putty powder suck up extra water and its nothing but a combination of  ingredients which includes POP and  white cement.white flour brings flexibility.linseed oil never let it get dry.any oil work grate with flour.without a strong glue you cant make the clay stick..

so use this clay --see if it works for you,you can even use  knife to apply it in thin layers.feel free to communicate if you have any question.

enjoy!
